I was kindly invited by Spyv to join a group of chaps driving down to watch the 2018 Le Mans 24 Hours race and happily accepted!
I was co-driving a delightful 1967 E-type Jaguar Mk 1.5 Convertible and a 2003 Aston Martin Vanquish. Two cracking cars that I enjoy driving.
Morning ferry to St Malo followed by a leisurely drive to our hotel where we would be staying for the race. In a lovely setting by a lake, it served an appetite defying Cote de Boeuf that no-one could finish, which is quite impressive.
The race was noisy and exciting but it was the time spent behind the wheels of our own cars that really made the trip. Wafting along the French roads with the wind in our (limited) hair singing “On Days Like These” by Matt Monro.
Tim W brought along his 1971 Daytona which was an absolute pleasure to follow. There are few prettier rears on the road.
